 Statue in place!

Workers placed the statue of John Sulsberger, affixed the plaques to the wall and installed the railings.

The concrete walk and stairway was given a pebble finish.

The plaques were painstakingly added to the wall.

Workers used levels and other materials, such as Styrofoam, to help align the plaques ....

... but sometimes it came down to just a good old "eyeballin' " to see if they were straight.

A plaque detailing John Sulsberger's story was set at the foot of the statue.

ZHS Director of Athletics Scott Aronhalt (left) speaks with local sculptor Alan Cottrill, who created and produced the Sulsberger statue. The piece features football equipment that was "state of the art" in the early 1960s.
