 Keeping track!

The new track surface was painted today.

The painter was amazingly accurate hitting his marks coming around the curves!

The painters very carefully laid out the myriad of lines. Here they were laying down a starting line.

Once the lines were down, then came the task of all the other necessary markings, including the lane numbers and the boundaries of the exchange zones for relays.

The exchange zone boundary markings have a distinctly "ZHS" look!

Stencils were also used to help differentiate the different starting lines as well as marking where hurdles are placed for certain events.

For example, this starting line is for the 100-meter dash and the 100-meter hurdles for girls.

The painters made sure everyone will remember who did the painting, and who put down the track.

Other "small jobs" were happening today, too. The old speakers were removed from
atop the pressbox and ...

... the new team benches were assembled and put in place for tonight's
football scrimmage against Tri-Valley.

At the same time, Devilettes director Wayne Carpenter had his troupe on the field for their first taste
of working on the new turf.

The girls found out today that the field can be a little "warm" compared to the old grass surface..
