 Back at it again!

Application of the track surface began today.

A close-up look at the rubber material being applied. This will be done several times. The finished product will be black.

The workers first protected the first few feet of the turf inside the track and curb before spraying. They also did the same for the new concrete walkway in front of the main grandstand.

Meanwhile, a lot of sprucing up has begun. The concession stands have been painted, as have the black railings. The concrete in the main grandstand has also been powerwashed.

The lettering on the front side of the pressbox has also been painted, as will the lettering on the back side of the facility.

The ZHS cheerleaders got into the act today, too, putting their own stamp on the project. They volunteered to repaint the victory bell stand in the northeast corner of the stadium.

While proclaiming their amateur status as painters, the cheerleaders did as careful a job as possible on the project.

Almost totally obscured by the front steps is this inscription on the victory bell stand, noting that it was given to the school by the Sertoma Club nearly 34 years ago.
