The eastern half of the field has been swathed in a permeable black fabric. A layer of stone will be put on top of this and then ... the turf!
The view from the east end of the stadium.
A worker rolls out some more fabric ...
... and then uses long spikes to hold it in place.

Meanwhile, more grading work was being done toward the west end of the field. Extra material from installation of the lateral drainage pipes had to be removed, then the field rolled. The construction in the background is the new machinery building, necessitated by the pending construction of the new Zanesville High School.
Also, the long jump pit has been filled with its sand. This "D end" of the field will be in turf, while the other end, where the pole vault runway is located, will not.
More ground is rolled flat in preparation for further fabric installation.
