 The prep work begins!

With the east end goalposts already down, workers prepare to drop the west end
goalposts.

Cutting the bolts that fasten the goalpost to its concrete base took some time.

Workers dismantle the west end goalpost after finally setting it free from its concrete mooring.

With the second set of goalposts removed, workers began determining where the electrical lines entered the
field for the lighting system.

The prep work and excavation will likely yield some interesting "finds."

The light standards are next on the removal list. They will be replaced by a new
lighting system that will be out of the fans' sightlines -- allowing for a full-width
soccer field -- and also be far more luminous.
